The 1970 Frolic travel trailer

This week the bug was still lingering. I don't think my husband wanted to wait for the Shasta to be done, and when he saw this Frolic he gave me the bug too. So, now we have two campers. But how can one resist? I will be decorating this beauty and the Shasta will remain a big project.

  2. Busted lopo! LOL.
She has her Frolic, Heather! Bo and I picked it up for her and will be doing the repairs. Your is really lovely. The lemon looks so nice on the Frolics and your choice of awning is perfect. Enjoy!

  3. I love your camper. I have the same one with some slight differences inside. Do you know the weight of it? I have looked everywhere and cannot find it anywhere. Please let me know if you find anything out. Thanks.

    1. We made a new cabinet door from birch purchased at Lowe's. The amber shellac is made by Zinsser I believe. The hardware was purchased from Vintage Trailer Supply.

  6. We just bought a early 1960's Frolic and are planning on doing some renovations too. We were wondering, in your pictures is the closet that up near the kitchen table where the shower use to be and where is your toilet (if you have one) located.
You did an awsome job and enjoyed looking at your camper.
    Blessings.
P.S. I just posted us buying ours this weekend.

    1. That closet apparently used to house a potty but no shower or sink. Someone else took it out and installed shelves that hold a microwave etc. under the shelves, we installed a portable AC that vents out floor into old tank and we open the tank vent when in use and prop open the closet door to cool the camper. We like that option better than taking out a window to install AC. We did get a new little potty at Walmart last week that seemed to work ok for the kids. It can be stored in a floor cabinet.

  7. I just purchased a 1974 Frolic. Other than the registration, I have no information on it. It has been pretty-much stripped inside except for the bathroom (now made into a closet but am told the drain is still under floor board) and kitchen cabinet area. Im waiting for it to be moved to an RV lot for temporarily living in. Althought bought for necessary use, I would love to restore it somewhat as able and would appreciate any information available for doing so...exterior paint, awning, table, etc....vintage RV associations/clubs/magazines, etc.

    Thanks,
    BB

  9. Heather-
I hope you are still enjoying your Frolic. I am very interested in how your portable air conditioning works. We have a q11968 Frolic and are your neighbors as we live in Brown County Indiana.

    1. It works fine for us. It is in the closet where the potty had been. it sits on the floor under the shelves. We leave the closet door open when it is running and it plugs in outside the closet. It vents out the floor and out the sewer tank. The brand is like ones they sell at Sam's Club called Penguin. Last weekend we camped at Holiday World and we left the air on all day while we were out.

  10. I had one of these from age 11 to 19 and I loved it but it was slightly longer and it had a full-size furnace in it just to the right of the fridge .And the top bunk over over the couch that folds down I would love to see one of these again and or possibly buy it. Can anyone help me? The sink was next to the door when you walk in and there was some counter space between the sink and the stove. The top bunk. And the furnace between the fridge and bathroom. Otherwise it looks exactly the same. I want one again so bad

    1. Casey, I suggest you set up searches with the word frolic and trailer or camper on both eBay and Craigslist within the radius you are willing to pick up.

  11. Hello - we recently purchased a 69 Frolic with few markings and no documentation. We're interested in connecting with others that have the same! Is this board still current? Anyone willing to chat?

    2. I just bought one, I have all the paperwork and owners manuals for the appliances, but not the main one for the camper itself. I have the same 2 door one as well. Unfortunately someone stole the copper gas lines. The trailer originally sold for $1500 in 1969.

  12. We are looking at purchasing one of these. What is the length of yours? Do you like the size?

    1. 16-18 feet maybe. The size is good for a family of four and my kids are not too big.

  13. We just purchased a 196? Frolic a few months ago and are beginning a full rebuild. It is the two door cabover style, and I have lots of questions! We are looking to connect with other Frolic owners. Is there a Frolic community other than the fairly inactive Facebook Frolic group? My email is: kiersten.scheule@gmail.com. I'd love to see more awesome blogs or photos like this one!!!! Great job Heather! Where did you have your cushions done?

  14. How funny! My name is also Heather and we have the exact same camper. Well, it's a 1970 Frolic with the same layout at least. Our interior is all original but needs some work. The first thing that needs to go is the godawful orange plaid upholstery, which is shredded so we currently have temporary red coverings on everything. We need to wire brush down the metal siding and repaint it but I'm scared that we may have structural issues with the wood after having a minor roof "cave in" from snow. Really just a dent but it did leak a tiny bit before we realized it and sealed it so fingers crossed!Did you have to reskin yours at all? If so was the process difficult? Our metals seems fine so I'm hoping it's just a matter of sanding and repainting. Knock on wood!

  15. I just purchased a 2 door Frolic with an overhead sleeper. I believe it is a 1960 18' Sun Seeker. These seem to be a bit scarce and information on the net even scarcer. If anyone has any info about the 2 dr. w/ overhead sleeper or one called Sun Seeker, I would love to know more. Thanks in advance.
